sentosa cell outing
juz in case anyone hasn't check their email =p
Hey all!
Hey all!
On top of the cell outing that Xian Jie is working on, we'll have another cell outing!! on national day itself!! yeah!
We'll be going down to Sentosa on national day!! (whole day event till evening..) Not only to have fellowship within our cell group, but also with the youth in our church from the JC/poly/ITE segment.. they will be having their segment outreach event..
I am thinking that it' ll be good if we can offer them help to run the games.. be the station masters.. and help them run the programs.. so that the leaders among them can spend more time interacting with the newcomers..
We can use the time to get to know the younger ones in our ministry too and have fun ourselves.. =)
Understand that there s already Day of His Power on the eve of national day and that we ll have our own outing around the same period of time also.. so can understand if you cant make it for this event..
But do try to make it ok.. cuz I think it ll be good if we get to know the younger ones and they really need our help.. And for those who believe God has deposited a heart for the youths in our church.. think it ll be a great time to translate that passion into action.. dont think of it as work or ministry.. cuz it s nothing more than run a few games.. then spending time chilling among ourselves and getting to know some younger pple.. would be fun. =)
Will give you guys details as the day draws nearer..
Pls give me a reply on whether you are coming or not.. reply soon yah.. cuz need to get back to their segment on how many of us are available..

CELL CYCLING
this is a repeat from the email.. just putting it here. yup. those who havent read it pls do.. erm currently popular dates are 8 aug and 12 aug.. but 8 aug are we going for day of his power? yup. so do continue to say when u are free so i'll try to accomodate everyone.. thank you..
hello. this is a proposed outing from your cell sports ic. okay since night cycling hasnt really kicked off, the idea is that we go to east coast park in the day and cycle/rollerblade! i need some feeback on when you guys are free so that i can better plan it. yup. basically would take last from say 3 to about 8? here is a basic idea of what i have in mind
3-3.30: meet plus travel to ecp/icebreakers (if we have new pple ard)
3.30-5.30: cycle/rollerblade
5.30-6.00: chill-lax (er rest and replenish..)
6.00-7.30: mini-game that is incorparated with dinner (got some idea already. very exciting one.. haha..)
7.30 onwards: Dinner! (by the beach if possible)
erm after that program ends so you can proceed to ice-cream or what ever you want to do..
ok. i'm trying to do this before school starts. so for nus pple sch starts on 13 Aug. the rest are either in sch already or in ns. haha.. ord lo! (sry, just had to say it..) here are a few proposed dates.
Weekends - (sundays) 5 or 12 Aug
sundays are generally quite crowded but more pple are available i think.
Weekdays - 1 Aug, 2 Aug, 8 Aug, 10 Aug
generally less crowded but lesser pple available, 8 aug sounds most reasonable to me cos its nationday day eve and most pple are generally more free?
Nat day - 9 Aug
guessing it would be super crowded and squeezy. but hey we may get to watch fireworks.. haha..
so all you have to do is VOTE for a date. say which dates you prefer.. dun just choose one, choose those that you are available for it and can come down. thanks! for example, i am free on all the days so i'll prefer all days available.. yup. so we can practice democracy and freedom of speech. erm i guess majority wins so we will pick the one with the most votes. sry if u r excluded.. haha.. if you can only come for a certain part of the day pls do say.. yup... should last from 3 to 8 plus.. yup.

anyways once we confirm everyone's response then i need one volunteer.. to help me with the games.. haha.. dun want to arrow so anyone just volunteer.. yup. very slack one. no need to plan or do much prehand.. all you need to do is facilitate the group.. thank you!
note to treasurer! funding wise, i need some $$. haha.. we can either pay about 4 to 5 dollars each per person (for the games portion - this includes your dinner) or we can take from the cell fund? about 4-5 dollars per person also.. yup.

soaking in God's presence
remember Chris Yang shared with us about his experience in the states and how they actually "soak" in God's presence? yea seriously it was a great experience for me and i really felt so peaceful that night. in-fact after the whole soaking thing i was feeling rather high ok i would say being joyful. pure joy, true peace.
what i felt during the soaking experience was this. to me it was like shutting the entire world out of that room and all i've got to do is just to sit there quietly and enjoy God's presence. Although at first i was like asking God could you do this could you do that for me? after some time later, i began to quiet down and just learn to soak in His presence, its kinda of like telling me "be still and know that i am God" absolutely mind-blowing experience.
its just amazing and i wish we could just keep doing that. just felt like penning it down in this blog ahhaha. perhaps you guys can share about your experience too?

Cell Advance!
It started off with some playing tennis, some sleeping away (haha..u know who u are), and some playing the guitar.. We had a good time with the Space Shuttle game planned by Ivan and Xian Jie too! Wished we took pics :P Anyway, had pizza by the pool with some nice live music by a group of Phillipinos at the other side of the bushes…
Time for worship! Here are the pictures and words released during that time:
- God being the Judge. Do not box God in. He is bigger than anything!
- Shackles binding our hands and feet, but Jesus can free us because He holds the key.
- A key and a lock with chains. Jesus is the key. The key is a choice that can set us free. Don’t lock yourself in by disbelief.
- Chains are of disappointment, expectation, baggages…
- Spirit of fear/disappointment. God sees and knows the love in our heart. Hand the keys of our locked doors to the master
- God is stronger than anyone else. He’ll bring us through and it is the best path.
- Psalms 68:19-20, 35
- Drink from Jesus, all who are heavy laden. Take my yolk which is light and easy.
- Surrender. Are we really surrendering? He is good and we can surrender to Him freely.
- John 3:16
Franco then showed a video of a news broadcast of a mission team from COOS to Ruicheng, China. (Franco, Su fern, and Kai Jie were the superstars in the video :P)

Henry shared about his health situation (his knees were weak and it was so bad that he could not go to school for a few months). He was a high-profiled trouble-maker and smoker in the past and ran away from home with only very little $$ with him. He could not get a proper job and had thoughts of robbing other people due to the intense hunger at times. After some time, he returned home for Spring Festival and his dad forced him to go back to school in order to save the family’s face (mien zi) as his father is a teacher. Henry refused and said that he wanted to work in Beijing. His dad refused to let Henry go to Beijing, grabbed him and traveled with him to Shaanxi, where his sister lived. Henry found a job there miraculously as a bookstore keeper. His father kept persisting for Henry to go back to school and finally forced his sister to quite the job Henry had at the bookstore. Although the process of going back to school was difficult, Henry’s dad persisted and took bank loans just to pay his fees as his income was barely enough to support the family.
While Henry was studying at the school in Ruicheng, the team from COOS went there. Henry shared how touched they were by the love the people from Singapore showed while they were there. When Moses heard that Henry had family problems, he prayed for Henry. And after they left, Henry didn’t know why but all of the students were crying. It never crossed his mind that he and Joe would one day go to Singapore although they had jokingly said that they would one day come here. Coming to Singapore was a miracle for both of them. In China, he said, the environment of getting close to God is difficult as everything needs to be done secretly. The Three ? Movement in China doesn’t allow them to do much in the churches there as well and most of the people attending the churches are older people. He is now trying to walk in the way God wants him to and he becoming closer and closer to God.
Joe shared about God giving the opportunity to them to come to Singapore. He became a Christian when Ps Daren and the team were there at RC. He said that God is in Shaanxi, He is a worldwide God. Wherever God is, there is a way, truth and life.

It is important to walk in obedience with God in His specific will and plan, to do things God way instead of our own way. We should not be people who are frustrated and burdened but ppl who serve and support one another. Matt 28:16-20 and Acts 16:6-10. How to be in lined with God: be filled with the Spirit and see what God is doing through the body of Christ.
Due to lack of time, we will continue to press on and seek God for the direction of our cell and to share of our cell expectations this coming Friday. Anyone has anything else to share? Post it here!
